Your bedroom is an important part of your home even if you spend the least time in it. This is because this is the room that you rest for 5 to 7 hours straight at night. This is the room where you need to rest and relax after a hard day’s grind. However, even if it’s a private room, you might not be getting enough sleep because the room lacks the conducive ambience needed for good rest. At the same time, your décor may be affecting your sleep patterns as well.
The Room Lights
The biggest factor that always affects sleep in the bedroom is the amount, or lack, of artificial and natural lighting. The natural way for sleep is for a minimum of lighting, most especially if you’re insomniac. If your bedroom has a lot of windows, you can use thick curtains to keep out outside lighting. No matter how many lights you have in your room, make sure to switch these off when you sleep. Don’t keep gadgets and phones in your room that can only disrupt your sleep.
Wall Colors
The colors of your walls actually have an effect on how you sleep. Bright and vibrant colors are not advisable for bedrooms. You should use calm and soothing colors like green, blue, and pastels. These hues encourage your body to sleep well. If you need to use bright colors or artwork in your room, have these at your head and not facing them.
Room Décor
Don’t overdo decorating your bedroom. A cluttered room will make you uneasy and anxious when attempting to sleep. Organize your room’s content by investing in storage bins or wall storage. Keeping things stored and organized, you will no longer be searching for missing items.
The Bed
The bed is the most important furniture in your bedroom because this is where you actually rest and sleep. Invest in a well-designed bed that will give you a good night’s sleep. If your bed is one of those wooden or metal types, buy a good mattress that will give your back a chance to rest. If your back is well rested, you get a good night’s sleep. If you are presently using an old mattress, it may no longer be able to support your body and your back may sink into the mattress. Check your mattress for broken springs that will disrupt your sleep.
